About

I started this site for three reasons:
  1. I enjoy reading Korean news articles to study Korean and I thought others might also be interested in a source to improve their vocabulary, hangul reading skills, and overall reading comprehension. Summarizing these articles, translating a few comments, and creating a vocabulary list all help my in my studies and I hope they'll be of benefit to others as well!
  2. I've always been fascinated by the concept of 'point of view.' I enjoy reading about history from multiple points of view to better understand why people act the way they do (ex. I was able to get Korean, Japanese, and Chinese high school history textbooks and analyze each book's take on World War II and then interviewed young adults from each country on their perceptions of the other two countries as part of my graduate school work). It is incredibly interesting to see what news/information is being consumed and how people react to and internalize that news.
  3. There are sites similar to mine that are more dedicated to Kpop, but while I enjoy the music, I don't really follow any group or have any deep interest in Kpop as a whole and these other sites only occasionally cover non-Kpop subjects. On the other hand, this site will rarely cover Kpop news. However, I hope anyone interested in learning more about South Korea will enjoy this site. Korean news articles that will be divided into (for now) 3 categories:
    1. Domestic
    2. International
    3. North-South Korean relations

The articles may cover touchy or difficult subjects and some top comments may purport awful views, but this site is meant for learning and thoughtful discussion. I expect everyone to remain civil in the comments. Trolls will not be tolerated.
