Ryu Hojung: "The victim is already experiencing secondary victimization... I will not go to pay my respects to Wonsoon Park."

Summary:
Representative Ryu Hojung of the Justice Party announced that she would go to pay respects to the recently deceased Mayor Wonsoon Park.

Representative Ryu had posted on Facebook saying that she would need to check what kind of person Mayor Park really was and did not want "you" to be lonely. The "you" she was referring to is the former secretary of Mayor Park who had sued him for alleged sexual harassment. Mayor Park disappeared the day after the complaint was filed and was found deceased.

Note:
Secondary victimization: the negative social reaction towards the victim of a crime, often in the form of victim-blaming, which results in additional trauma for survivors of a crime. (Example: suggesting a woman would not have been raped if she had drunk less alcohol.)

Top 5 Comments:
  1. The president sending a floral tribute is in itself secondary victimization of the victim. It seems like the Democratic Party only thinks about women during elections and when they sexually harass them. Where is their apology to the victim? (+60, -114)
  2. Aren't you the National Assembly member who got caught in that boosting* scandal right after you were elected? Just shut your mouth. Do you think there were no victims from your own scandal? (+19, -7)
  3. I won't vote for the Justice Party from now on~ Making such thoughtless remarks in front of the deceased~ (+16, -13)
  4. Ryu Hojung, don't be cocky! Who are you to give condolences? Ridiculous. (+12, -5)
  5. There is a saying: hate the sin, not the sinner. Sending condolence flowers shouldn't be seen as covering up, forgiving, or condoning the crime. It is only showing courtesy to the deceased. I won't say that he is innocent, but I also won't say anything to shame the victim. Right now, I think it's best to just express our sincere condolences for the death of a human being, Wonsoon Park. There's no need to curse those who don't send condolences. They have their reasons, so it can't be helped. Still, I have no doubt that Assemblyman Sangjung Shim will go [to the funeral hall.] Because it's not a political party issue. It's just showing courtesy as an individual. (+12, -3)
